Who would have thought that the Material Girl would end up getting hitched? Nobody. She certainly earned herself quite a reputation in the late 90s for being such a huge sexpot. The woman who was known for chart toppers like “Like a Virgin”, “Like a Prayer”, “Vogue” and many more sexually charged songs was certainly the last person anyone would have thought of as marriage material. It certainly did not help that she came out with a book entitled “Sex”, which was as close to her getting into porn as one could ever imagine. Hence, there was absolutely no way she would tie the knot with anyone, right?
Wrong. In 2000, she ended up getting married to high profile movie director Guy Ritchie, who was known for films like “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”, “Snatch” and “Sherlock Holmes.” Madonna truly looked different this time around, sporting an elegant wedding dress, along with accessories such as the very same diamond tiara that was once worn by Grace Kelly during her marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco. The entire cost of the wedding was estimated to have reached 1.5 million dollars, certainly a huge amount especially when you consider the fact that the reception was held in a basement.
However, we often feel that a lot of these celebrity couples go out in style with their weddings because they anticipate they’ll never have anything quite like it ever again. After all, they did end up divorcing in 2009, that’s 9 long years of marriage down the drain.
Though they married in secret in 2000, a larger event was held in 2002 to renew their vows in Puerto Rico. Torres wore a crystal and pearl embroidered dress to the San Juan Cathedral where they vowed once again to have and to hold till death parted them at the cost of an estimated $500,000! Sadly, this vow was broken in 2004 when they divorced.
Elizabeth Hurley was once one of the world’s most desirable women. An actress hailing from England, her posh yet sultry accent plus those truly seductive eyes of hers set the hearts of men ablaze, including that of Hugh Grant, to whom she was once married. Of course, things didn’t pan out too well for them over the course of several years, eventually separating. Many men all over the planet were quite happy that Elizabeth was yet again back in the market, thinking they’d have a shot at getting her to wear a wedding dress someday by their side in front of an altar.
However, those dreams were then crushed soon after, as Elizabeth tied the knot with Arun Nayar back in 2007. This was by no means a simple wedding. We are talking a 2.5 million dollar price tag for everything, from the ceremony to the reception itself. It was certainly something unique, considering it was treated very much like a festival, with the celebration spanning over eight days. As far as her wedding gown is concerned, it was made by the highly famous fashion designer Donatella Versace. Her chiffon gown definitely drew a lot of attention, making her look every bit like the classy lady she already is. However, there was also a second ceremony held in India, Nayar’s home country.
This time around, it was more of a traditional Hindu wedding in ode to Nayar’s beliefs and practices. Nonetheless, it was also quite an expensive, with the newlyweds spending 10,000 a night for their honeymoon suite.
Though I'm not exactly sure what the total cost for this wedding was, it was a lavish celebration! Taking place in the Opeca Castle, the wedding festivities included Jacob & Co wedding bands, a seven tiered cake, expensive earrings for the bridesmaids, and the list goes on! Jonas wore diamond cufflinks worth $15,000, tuxedo shirt studs worth $8,900, and a tie accent valued at $5,400! Bride wore a Vera Wang dress, and you know the cost of those beauties! And Kevin was thoughtful enough to buy darling Danielle glass slippers to wear at the castle!
In June 2006, on a cliff in Australia, Nicole Kidman arrived in her cream colored Rolls Royce limo. The cliff was covered in hundreds of candles and red flowers and many well-known guests were among the 200 guests. This beautiful wedding cost an estimated $250,000! Oh, and if you were a guest to this wedding, you were given your very own Tiffany clock complete with an engraving!
July of 2004 at the Spelling mansion, Tori and Charlie wed. The 1920's flapper style and the Great Gatsby themed wedding, and 400 guests cost this family $1 million dollars! Sadly, they divorced in 2006.
